Town Nomination Papers Available

Town elected offices will be contested for elections.

The town election season has begun, as nomination papers are now available at the town clerk's office.

A number of town seats are slated to be up for grabs for the April 4 election, including a position on the Board of Selectmen. Selectman Bob Cohen's three-year seat on the board is up for election.

Other such positions include a one-year town moderator term (currently occupied by Keith Billian), a three-year assessor seat (occupied by Tom DiPlacido Jr.), a three-year Board of Health seat (with Marion Cafferky as an incumbent), two three-year Planning Board seats (Patrick Moore and Glen Pisani), two three-year Fiske Library Trustee positions (Nancy Howes and Diane Rook), two seats on the Elementary School Committee (Deborah Webster and Kim Carr, three years each) and one three-year King Philip School Committee seat (Margaret Billian).

So far, only Moderator Keith Billian and Board of Health member Marion Cafferky have filed to run for re-election.

Though Cohen has not yet taken out papers, two challengers — Mary Dunn and Michael Carroll — have already done so.

Several prospective candidates have already taken out papers.

The deadline for obtaining and submitting the papers, which require 48 signatures, is Feb. 14.
