Senator John Kerry Confirmed As Secretary of State

John Kerry will replace Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State.

With only three dissenting votes, the U.S. Senate has confirmed John Kerry as the new Secretary of State.

Kerry will take over for Hillary Clinton, who is leaving her post after four years.

The move means Kerry will have to resign as Massachusetts' senior senator. , has announced he is running for the seat. has hinted that he may run. Former United States Senator Scott Brown (R-Wrentham) is the leading Republican candidate, but he hasn't announced that he will run after losing losing to Elizabeth Warren in November.

As for an interim senator for Kerry's seat, Gov. Deval Patrick plans to announce his pick on Wednesday, Jan. 30, according to the Boston Herald.

He will be as incompetent and weak as Hillary Clinton. At least we get him out of Massachusetts.

Kerry is a rich creep that ought to pay for the special election this June. Instead, the party that proclaims and pretends to have the interests of the working class continue to promulage their lie(s). Good ridance, in one sense; but here in TAXachusetts, liberals are as common as grains on sand at Scusset Beach. Thus, the people who work hard and pay taxes gain nothing: business as usual.

I agree. Kerry is a rich, old, white man who walks the party line. Massachusetts should be able to do better than that.
