Sen. Scott Brown Launches New Book In Wrentham

Hundreds dropped by Lake Pearl Luciano's to meet the senator.

Hundreds came to Lake Pearl Luciano's Tuesday night to catch the launch of U.S. Senator Scott Brown's new book.

The book, entitled "Against All Odds," reveals details of the senator's early life, including physical and sexual abuse.

Brown gave some brief remarks at the event, in between signing copies of the book.

"I'm so deeply moved by this turnout," he said. "When I call Gail and tell her, she's just going to say, 'Yeah right, you're exaggerating.'"

State Sen. Richard Ross said the event was "unbelievable."

"He's taken the time to understand himself, and become an even greater representative of the people who elected him," he said. "I respect him very much."

Ross said he believed the book would help people understand the senator.

"I think it will explain why Senator Brown is the Senator Brown he is," he said.

State Rep. Daniel Winslow said the senator's story is inspiring to those who have faced adversity.

"I'm very proud he's my senator, and I'm going to work to make sure he stays my senator in 2012," he said.

Winslow said he hadn't been able to check out the book yet, but he intends to do so.

This [signing] is the biggest thing to hit Wrentham in a long time," he said.
