Race for Wrentham Selectmen is On

George R. Smith Jr. filed his nomination papers for selectman Tuesday, challenging incumbents Joseph Botaish and Gail Pratt for the two open seats.

With Wrentham moving its annual town election to April 30, Tuesday was the last day to take out and return nomination papers for the annual election. April 30 will also be the Massachusetts US Senate primary.

George R. Smith Jr. took out papers to run for the open selectmen's seat Monday and returned well them before the 5 p.m. deadline, according to town clerk Carol A. Mollica.

That meant the only contested race will be the two seats on the board of selectmen. Incumbents Joseph Botaish, 54 Hamilton Rd. and Gail Pratt, 316 Taunton St. will be challenged by Smith, who lives at 405 Bennett St.
