Nomination Deadline Passes, Town Election Races Set

Several contested races for town positions.

The deadline to file to run for town office passed Monday, setting up several contested races for the April 4 election.

Several town seats are up for election, including positions on the town Board of Selectmen, the Elementary School Committee, the King Philip School Committee and the Planning Board.

On the Board of Selectmen, Mary Dunn, Peter Marinelli and Michael Carroll have filed to run for a three-year seat. The seat is currently occupied by Bob Cohen, who had decided not to try to retain his seat.

Cohen has decided to run for a seat on the KP School Committee, facing off against current committee member Anna Eberwein-Tupper.

Ed Goddard and Lynn Desrochers will run for the town's Elementary School Committee.

Multiple people are seeking to join the Planning Board, with incumbent Glenn Pisani set to face off against Michael Maurides and John Fragola.

Board of Health member Marion Cafferky will seek to stay on the board and will be challenged by Everett Skinner, and Brian Kelly has filed to run for a one-year seat on the board.

Town Moderator Keith Billian is currently unopposed, as are Board of Assessors member Thomas DiPlacido and Fiske Library Trustee Nancy Howes.
