Massachusetts Unemployment Rate Steady in October

State adds 10,800 jobs, but unemployment rate remains the same.

The unemployment rate in Massachusetts remained at 7.3 percent for the month of October, according to data released today by the state Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

According to the office, there was an increase of 10,800 jobs over the course of the month. The data shows job additions in eight of the ten private sectors.

Despite the unchanged rate, the state says its number remains below the national unemployment rate of 9 percent. The office said the rate is the state's lowest since January 2009.
