Massachusetts Unemployment Rate Steady in July

The state unemployment rate remained at 7.6 percent for the month of July.

The Massachusetts unemployment rate remained steady at 7.6 percent between the months of June and July, according to the state Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

The office released the July figure, which is lower than the national rate of 9.1 percent, last week. The data for local job markets will be released on Tuesday.

According to the office, the state showed an increase of an estimated 12,700 jobs for the month, 11,600 of which were in the private sector. The office said the fields of education and health services; trade, transportation and utilities; manufacturing; professional and business services; and financial activities saw growth.

The office said June also saw an increase in jobs, by a revised figure of 9,400.
