Massachusetts Unemployment Drops in April

State unemployment down for the month.

The Massachusetts unemployment rate dropped by .2 percentage points during the month of April, according to data released today by the state Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

The rate fell from 6.5 percent in March to 6.3 percent last month.

According to the office, the private sector added 3,400 jobs in the month and the state saw 2,500 in total jobs added.

The office said the state has added 31,100 jobs for the year to date.

Local unemployment figures will be released on Tuesday, May 22.
