June Unemployment Rate Jumps in Wrentham

Unemployment rate increases from May to June.

The unemployment rate in Wrentham jumped to 7.1 percent in June from 6.6 percent in May, according to the Massachusetts Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

The rate is down from last June's number of 8.2 percent, though.The rate is not seasonally adjusted.

The state also saw an increase in not-seasonally adjusted unemployment, from 7.4 percent in May to 7.8 percent last month. That, too, is down from last June's 8.5 percent figure.

The Massachusetts seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.6 percent in June, the same as May's figure. This remains below the national rate of 9.2 percent.

  • Dover's unemployment rate increased slightly, from 4.5 percent in May to 4.7 percent in June. The town's rate in June 2010 was 5.6 percent.
  • Easton's rate increased to 6.8 percent from 6.1 percent in May. In June 2010, the rate was 7.8 percent.
  • Foxborough saw it's unemployment rate climb from 6.4 percent in May to 6.7 percent last month. Last June's rate was 7.7 percent.
  • The unemployment rate in Mansfield increased a bit, from 6.6 percent in May to 6.7 percent in June. The town's rate in June 2010 was 7.1 percent.
  • Medfield's unemployment rate saw an increase to 5.5 percent in June from 5.3 percent in May. In June 2010, the rate was 6.8 percent.
  • Norfolk saw its rate jump from 6.3 percent in May to 6.8 percent in June, though that number is well below last June's 8.1 percent.
  • Norton's unemployment rate climbed in June, from May's 6.9 percent to last month's 7.7 percent. Last year's rate was 9.3 percent.
  • Norwood saw its unemployment rate increase slightly, from 6.4 percent to 6.7 percent. The June 2010 rate was 7.5 percent.
  • Plainville's unemployment rate fell from May to June, dropping from 9.1 percent to 8.7 percent. The June 2010 rate was 9.6 percent.
  • Sharon's unemployment rate went up a bit, from 5.8 percent in May to 6 percent in June. Last June's rate was 6.4 percent.
  • Stoughton's unemployment rate climbed from 6.8 percent in May to 7.1 percent last month. June 2010's number was 8.4 percent.
