Jim King Drops Out of Senate Race, Endorses Warren

King dropping out leaves Marisa DeFranco as Elizabeth Warren's only Democratic opponent.

The field of possible Sen. Scott Brown opponents has narrowed.

Democratic candidate and Dover resident Jim King announced Wednesday that he will be dropping out of the senate race and will endorse Elizabeth Warren, The Republican reported today.

"We looked at our goals of defeating Scott Brown and rebuilding Sen. Ted Kennedy's legacy, and decided that the best way to accomplish that at this point is to support Elizabeth Warren," he told the paper.

King, a corporate lawyer out of Boston, announced his candidacy late last year and is the fifth candidate to drop out of the primary.

His announcement means that Warren's only opponent remaining in the Democratic field is Marisa DeFranco.
