Wrentham Historical Commission Seeks to Fill Vacancy

The Wrentham Historical Commission is currently looking to fill an opening in their group.

The Wrentham Historical Commission has a vacancy as of July 1. The Wrentham Historical Commission is a body of Town government with the responsibility of preserving, maintaining, displaying, and collecting Town history, and using same for educational purposes. The Commission also executes the Town's demolition bylaw which can be used to delay historical building demolition for up to one year while alternatives to demolition are explored. The Wrentham Historical Commission is often confused with the Wrentham Historical Society which is not the same. The society is a private club while the commission is a body of Town government.

The Commission has a historic plaque program, paid for by Sweatt Funds, which provides the estimated date of building construction along with the original owner and/or a significant other owner, and is for display on the front of the building for the public to view.

The Historical Commission shares space with the Wrentham Cultural Council in the Old Fiske Museum, built in 1894. Together we have presented several exhibits and events and are currently planning a special semi-permanent exhibit from the WHC archives, “Wrentham Works,” highlighting business, industry and service enterprises throughout Wrentham’s history.
