A Second Chance for Plainville Slot Parlor? Report Says Penn National Gaming Interested

After a measure to allow slots in Tewksbury was denied this week, Penn National Gaming, a Pennsylvania-based gambling company, is looking into reviving Plainridge Racecourse's chances to get a license, according to a report in the Boston Globe.
The last attempt to get a slot parlor for the race track failed when the ownership was denied because they were found unfit to run a casino, said the Globe story.
Plainville town administrator Joseph Fernandes said he hasn't spoken to Penn National Gaming, but he say conversations have taken place between the track and the company.
"The planets are beginning to align," said Fernandez in the Boston Globe article. "I'm measured in my optimism. It has been a pretty intense roller coaster."
