Wrentham Teen Found, Time Missing Attributed to Concussion

Wrentham teen Matthew Glass was found in Dedham.

A Wrentham teen has been found after he had been missing for several days — a time attributed to the lingering effects of a concussion.

Matthew Glass, 17, was found in Dedham Thursday night.

Detective Lt. William McGrath said Glass had been transported to Norwood Hospital from Dedham on Thursday night.

"There was some talk about an abduction, but that has been dismissed," he said. "He's confused and disoriented, and this episode has been attributed to a concussion he received last fall.

According to McGrath, Glass had suffered two episodes since in which he had collapsed.

"The parents are dealing with medical professionals now," he said. "The parents have released a toxicology report that showed there were no drugs in his system."

McGrath said, other than the lingering effects of the concussion, Glass was unharmed.

"He was dehydrated, disoriented and confused," he said.

McGrath said the parents were "ecstatic" that Glass has been found.

"It's two things — they're grateful, and they're more educated about concussions," he said. "The father said this has been an education to him, and a real shock to him."

McGrath noted that medical research continues to show the seriousness of concussions.

"Concussions have been underrated for quite a while," he said.

He said investigation into the matter has ceased, as there is no indication a crime has been committed.

Glass had gone missing after being last seen in Wrentham at 3pm on Sept. 20.

"Police are concerned as he has not contacted either parent since 3:00pm yesterday," a police alert read. "Matthew stated to his parents that he was traveling to Boston to the Apple Store for computer repairs."

Police wrote that he did not arrive at the store, and his truck was later discovered in Boston.
