Wrentham Police Department Receives $35K In Grants

Grants will go to improving 911 training, technology.

The Wrentham Police Department recently received about $35,000 in grants to improve its 911 training and technology.

Police Chief James Anderson said the money came from the state 911 department.

"We do apply for these grants yearly," he said. "We've been fortunate to receive it for the past few years."

"This year's amount is slightly more than usual," he added.

Anderson said the money was divided into two grants.

"Twenty-nine thousand is from the state 911 support and incentive grant," he said. "It allows us to upgrade our communication center."

He said the department had yet to determine the exact equipment it would purchase.

"It will probably be an additional computer and technology," he said.

According to Anderson, the remaining $6,000 is for 911 training.

"It allows us to send dispatch personnel to additional training," he said.

Anderson said the department had yet to determine which training courses would be selected for their dispatchers.
