Wrentham Police Chief Gives Update on Dispatch Regionalization

Police Chief James Anderson updated the town selectmen on the progress of dispatch consolidation.

The Wrentham police chief gave the town board of selectmen an update on efforts to consolidate the dispatch centers of Wrentham, Norfolk, Plainville and Franklin.

Those town have been in an effort to cut costs.

Police chief James Anderson said the Norfolk, Wrentham and Plainville departments had been talking about a consolidated dispatch center for three years.

"Later, Franklin asked to come aboard," he said, adding that a feasibility study had been commissioned to examine that possibility. "What we tried to do, so we we wouldn't lose any momentum, is we jumped ahead and filed for a grant."

Anderson said, if the departments hadn't applied for the grant, they would have had to wait until the next grant cycle.

"We were fortunate enough to get a $1.4 million grant award," he said. "We're still waiting fort he feasibility study."

"When we have the study, we will give a presentation," he added.
