Town Officials, Police Officers Attend Police Autism Training

Wrentham Police Department autism training was well-attended.

Several Wrentham town officials and police officers attended the on April 12 and 23.

In a department release, Police Chief James Anderson congratulated those who took part in the training, including police officers from Wrentham, North Attleboro and Needham.

"Along with local residents, other participants included Michael Carroll, Wrentham Board of Selectmen; Ed Goddard, Chairman of the Wrentham School Committee and local court officials including Edward Doherty, Clerk Magistrate of the Wrentham District Court," Anderson said.

Anderson said the training was intended to help officers who are called into situations involving those suffering from autism.

The training was taught by Lt. Martin Baker, a Norwood police officer and a founding member of tha Autism and Law Enforcement Education Coalition (ALEC).
