State Police Investigating Fatal Wrentham 495 Crash

Accident occurred at about 1pm Friday.

Massachusetts State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Route 495 Friday afternoon.

According to a police release, emergency personnel responded to a report of a single-car accident just south of Exit 15 at 1pm. The crash resulted in a fatality and a serious injury.

Police believe a Toyota Camry was traveling north on the road when it left the roadway, entered the median and was lodged in several trees.

According to police, there were two occupants of the vehicle: driver Michael Bird, 78, and passenger Thomas Russell, 78, both of Milford. Police said the two were entrapped in the vehicle and were freed by the Wrentham Fire Department.

According to police, Bird died as a result of the accident, and Russell was taken to Milford Hospital.
