Plainville Police Issue Safety Guidelines for Halloween
The Plainville Police Department issued a press release via Facebook today about Halloween.
The following message was sent out via Facebook from the Plainville Police Department today about Halloween Trick or Treating.
SANDY UPDATE: On Halloween- we are not "canceling halloween". The parade and party at the Fire Dept. was Sat night so there are no "town" halloween functions to cancel. Although there are a handful of streets without power, we believe that NG has taken care of live downed wires in Town. Their priority today is making sure streets are safe and passable, then they are moving on to repairs. So, there doesn't seem to be a need for the Town to take a position on trying to "cancel" or put a "curfew" or a "ban" on trick-or-treating, which would be difficult to do anyway. We do feel that parents should escort their children even more so than in the past to make sure they are walking in safe, lit streets, driveways, and walkways. If you live on one of the few streets in the center without power you can drive your children just a few blocks away and trick-or-treat on streets with lighting. Escort your children. Keep them on streets, driveways, and walkways. Don't cut across lawns where branches and trees may be down. WEAR SOMETHING REFLECTIVE. By thinking a little more about where to go and having a heightened awareness, we can still make Halloween happen for our kids.
