Norfolk Teen Assists Police in Robbery Arrests

Norfolk police made arrests in an alleged break-in spree Tuesday afternoon with the help of a sick at home teenager.

 

A teen home from school sick helped Norfolk police arrests two breaking and entering suspects Tuesday.

Michael Couto, 45, of New Bedford, and Chelsea Smith, 21, of Mashpee, will be facing multiple felony charges, breaking and entering, breaking and entering, while placing a person in fear, larceny and malicious destruction in Wrentham District Court Wednesday, according to a FOX-25 report. The pair are wanted in connection with multiple residential housebreaks in Norfolk.

While hiding in the family basement, the teen was able to report the incident to Norfolk Police. Officer Eric VanNess heard the call on his portable radio and responded to the scene after working on a local road detal. VanNess said on the FOX-25 report that he arrested the suspects a gun point.
