New Police Officer Sworn In

Officer Derick Cassidy was sworn in at Tuesday's Board of Selectmen meeting.

A new police officer was sworn in during Tuesday night's Board of Selectmen meeting.

Officer Derick Cassidy was sworn in by Town Clerk Carol Mollica.

Police Chief James Anderson said Cassidy was the last of the new police officers hired as the result of town meeting approval.

"He'll start at the police academy on Feb. 28," Anderson said. "Hopefully, he'll get out in July."

"He will be a good fit with our officers," he added.

Board Chairman Stephen Langley praised the hire.

"We're very proud to have the swearing in of a new patrolman," he said. "We're certainly proud to add to our excellent staff of police men and women."
