Updated: Fatal Accident on Taunton Street

A man died as the result of a two-car accident Tuesday evening, according to Wrentham Police.

Police Chief James Anderson said the accident took place near the hill on Taunton Street.

"One car had a male occupant, who was deceased," he said. "There were seven occupants of the other car, a can. They were taken to area hospitals with various injuries."

Anderson said he was unsure as to the severity of those injuries. He said it is unclear what led to the crash.

"That's the subject of an ongoing investigation," he said. "We're being assisted by the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office and the Massachusetts State Police accident reconstruction team."

Norfolk and Plainville police and fire personnel also responded to the crash.

Update: Police have released the names of those involved in the crash. John T. Donovan of 299 Creek St. in Wrentham was killed in the crash as the sole occupant of one of the vehicles.

The seven people in the van were Julie Rowell, Ryan Rowell, Isabella Rowell, Cameron Rowell, Noah Rowell, Ryan Westerlind and Paige Westerlind of East Falmouth.
