Wrentham Obituaries for the week of June 15

The following are the obituaries for the week of June 15.

 

Susan Gay Harper, 59, of Franklin Street, Wrentham, died surrounded by her family on June 8, 2012 at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

She was the loving wife of Richard “Rick” Harper, to whom she was married on August 3, 1974.

Born in Norwood, on April 2, 1953, she was the dear daughter of the late Thomas and E. Jeanette (Gay) Parsons-Sharon, and step-daughter of the late Charles W. Sharon.

A former Norfolk resident, she has been a Lake Archer resident in Wrentham for the past 20 years. A 1971 Graduate of the King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham, she had also graduated from the New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1975. She had also attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

She had been employed as the Medical Director for the Department of Developmental Disabilities Southeast Region. She had previously worked as an RN in Labor and Delivery at the Norwood Hospital and for several area Physician’s offices. She had however most enjoyed her role as an advocate for those served by Southeastern Mass Regional Services and the former DMR.

A member of the Original Congregational Church in Wrentham, she was know by many for her love of music and as a soloist and member of the Church Choir. She and her husband had both been role models for the youth of the Church and for many years had been the advisors for the Pilgrim Fellowship.

She had also played the piano for the Sunday School Chapel services. She was a member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association.

She also leaves a loving daughter, Shayna E. and her husband Evan Watters of Billerica, and son Matthew T. Harper of Wrentham, dear brothers Thomas R. Parsons of Somerville and Robert C. Parsons of Cape Cod, dear sisters Catherine Matthews of Sagamore Beach, Alice Blanchard of Wrentham, and Charlene “Spunky” Wilber of Telford, TN.

She was the devoted grandmother of one grandson, Caedmon Watters of Billerica. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Route 1A, Wrentham Centre on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Her Funeral was June 15  in the Sanctuary of the Original Congregational Church, East Street at Dedham Street, Wrentham Centre. Donations in her memory may be made to the Organ Fund of Original Congregational Church, P. O. Box 657, Wrentham, MA 02093.

Arrangements are in the care of Richard Ross, and the RJ Ross Funeral Home, Wrentham Centre.
