Obituary: Virginia H. Swanson

Virginia H. Swanson, 81, of Waltham Drive died Aug. 27, 2013 in Golden Living Center, Pleasant Street, Attleboro.  She was the wife of the late Carl T. Swanson.

Born Oct. 2, 1931 in Conway, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Barbara (Noyes) Cole.

Virginia grew up in Greenfield and lived most of her life in Walpole before moving to Plainville in 1995.

She devoted her life to being a homemaker and raising her family.  Virginia was also a committed member of the Central Congregational Church in Attleboro Falls where she was active in the Women's Union and she also was a longtime volunteer at Norwood Hospital.

She is survived by three children: Eric Swanson of North Attleboro, Stuart Swanson of Cranston, RI and Kendra Woods of Round Rock, TX; 11 grandchildren: Christopher, Shannon, Ryan, Alec, Cole, Haley, Kelsey, Lindsey, Courtney, Zachary and Brady; and a great-granddaughter Harper Leigh Swanson.

She was predeceased by two brothers: Donald and Russell Cole.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 5-7 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro immediately followed by a prayer service in the funeral home at 7 p.m.

A committal service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4 ,at 10 a.m. at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
