Obituary: Remembering Louise Roby

Wrentham resident Louise Roby passed away at the age of 94 on December 14, 2012.

Louise Roby, 94, of Wrentham, died peacefully December 14, 2012 in the Maples Rehab and Nursing Center in Wrentham.  She was the beloved widow of the late Louis H. Roby who predeceased her in 1984, and to whom she was married on September 26, 1942.

Born in Providence, RI on June 7, 1918, she was a loving daughter of the late Augustus and Mary (Hicks) Smith. Formerly of Mansfield, she was a graduate of the Mansfield High School.  She had been a Wrentham resident since 1942.

A longtime bookkeeper for the Red Bird Farm in Wrentham, she had previously worked in the Assessor’s Office in the Town of Mansfield.

Home and family meant the world to her, and she enjoyed family trips to Nova Scotia and Cape Cod. She particularly delighted in her grandchildren.  She was an avid reader, loved to knit and enjoyed crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.  She was a devoted Red Sox fan, and enjoyed watching the birds at her feeders in her yard.

She is survived by her loving children, Marcia and her husband Mickey Carlucci of Franklin, Cynthia Thompson of Wrentham, Howard and his wife Diana Roby of NJ, and the late Paul Roby.  She was the dear sister of Eleanor Harlor of Mansfield, Ruth Young of Portland, ME, and Mary Lou and her husband Dick Christiansen of PA.  She was the devoted grandmother of Michelle, Maureen, Jennafer, Lauren and Scott, and great grandmother to seven great grandchildren.

A private burial service in Wrentham Centre Cemetery is planned and will be followed by a Funeral Service in Trinity Episcopal Church, East Street at Lower Common, Wrentham Centre, on January 10, 2012, at 10:30 AM.

No flowers please. Donations in her memory may be made to either the Maples Nursing and Rehab Center, Activities Fund, 90 Taunton Street, Wrentham, MA 02093, or to Autism Speaks, @ www.autismspeaks.org/
