Obituary: Nelson C. Irving

Longtime Wrentham resident Nelson Irving passed away on August 3, 2012.

Nelson C. Irving, 96, of West Street, Attleboro, and a former longtime Hyde Park and Wrentham resident, died August 3, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar House in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Magdalene (Hargrave) Irving whom he married on December 23, 1960.

Born in Danville, VA on April 7, 1916, he was the dear son of the late Dennis N. and Leathia (Johns) Irving. Educated in Wrentham Public Schools, he was a graduate of the former Wrentham Centre School.

An avid fisherman, he loved fishing local waters. Retired for many years he had formerly been the Chauffeur for Shapiro Family of Newton. He had also been a Life Insurance salesman during a portion of his lifetime. He was a proud United States Army World War Two Veteran, having service overseas from July 2, 1944 until August 12, 1945. He was Honorably discharged at Fort Devens on May 1, 1946.

He was the dear father of Tina M. Irving of Attleboro, Dennis J. Irving of Jacksonville, Fl. and Carol Gomes of Boston and brother of Leathia Kelly of Duarte, CA. He was the grandfather of Stacy, Joshuah, Nishelle and A.J. Also survived by Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Route 1A, Wrentham Centre, on Thursday from 11 AM to 1 PM.His Funeral Service will immediately follow in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Wrentham Centre Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Richard Ross and the RJ Ross Funeral Home, Wrentham Centre.
