Obituary: Mary-Lee Mahoney-Emerson, Former Social Worker at Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center

Mary-Lee Mahoney-Emerson, 60, of Sudbury, died Aug. 27, 2013 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

She was the wife of Willis P. Emerson. Born in Milford Oct. 20, 1952, she was the daughter of the late James F. and Rita K. (Bartholomew) Mahoney.

She was employed at St. Patricks Manor in Framingham where she was the assistant administrator. She had formerly been the Director of Social Services at St. Patricks and at Bethany Health Care Center in Framingham.

She was a graduate of Dominican Academy and Marian High School in Framingham. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Regis College and her Master's at Framingham State in geriatric counseling and health care administration.

She was a Member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Registered Housing Professional Association and Healthcare Social Workers Association. An active volunteer she had served 1966-1975 with the Christian Appalachian Project in KY, 1976-1978 as Community Board Member at Head Start Council in Framingham, 1982-1990 as Framingham Library Board Trustee, 1983-1985 as a Hospice Volunteer at Southwood Community Hospital in Norfolk, 2005- Present as a member of Framingham Community Partners and from 2008-Present at the Sudbury Council on Aging.

She had also been a social worker at South Middlesex VNA, Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, Sudbury Pines Nursing Home and at St. Patricks Manor.

In addition to her husband, she leaves her step-son Joseph Emerson and her aunt Barbara J. Bartholomew.

Her Funeral Mass was held at St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Road, Framingham. Burial is Monday Sept 9, 11:30 a.m. in St. Francis Cemetery, Walpole.
