Obituary: Mary Dinneen

Mary Dinneen passed away on November 21, 2012 at the age of 89.

Mary Dinneen, 89 and a longtime Dedham resident, died on Wednesday November 21, 2012 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, surrounded by loving family. Married to Edward Dinneen, she was widowed in 1968.

Born in Boston on October 30, 1923, she was a loving daughter of the late John and Mary (Gallant) Sexton.  She was a graduate of the Roslindale High School, and a World War Two United States Navy Veteran.   

She began her work career at the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company.  When her children were young she was a homemaker. Later she operated a successful independent real estate business was a longtime member of the Greater Boston Board of Realtors.

She was an avid artist.  She enjoyed painting landscapes and found happiness expressing herself on canvass.

She is survived by loving and devoted children, Andrea and her husband Barry Lott of Waterford, VT, Patricia and her husband Thomas Smith of Plymouth, Theresa Neves of Bow, NH, and Edward and his wife Coleen Dinneen of Foxboro.  She was the dear sister of John T. Sexton of Pensacola, FL, and Evelyn Gasster of Torrance, CA. and was the devoted grandmother of seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Route 1A, Wrentham Centre on Wednesday from 4-8 PM.  Her Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday at 9 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 140 South Street, Wrentham Centre.  Burial will be in the Wrentham Centre Cemetery.

 In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s  choice.
