Obituary: Frank MacClean

Frank P. MacLean, 80, died Sept. 30, 2013, at the MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.

He was born in Wrentham, Mass., on May 19, 1933, the son of Daniel and Frances (Pray) MacLean. Frank grew up in Wrentham where he worked more than 20 years for Wrentham Steel Products. He was a member of the Army Reserves for 10 years.

Frank was a long-time member of the North Attleboro Elks where he was Past Exalted Ruler in 1970-1971 and 1977-1978. He was a member of the Wrentham Sportsman Club. Frank enjoyed doing outside projects around the house, loved gardening and restored several horsedrawn sleighs. He wintered in Zephyrhills, Fla., for the past 17 years.

Frank was predeceased by two sons, Kenny and Robbie MacLean; and a brother Daniel MacLean. Surviving are his wife, Carol MacLean, who he married on Sept. 29, 1994; two daughters, Debbie and Donna, in Sarasota, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Melissa Pieczynski, and husband Chris, of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, John "Jack" MacLean, and wife Eleanor, of North Anson; a sister, Edith Delois, of North Attleboro, Mass.; two grandchildren, Matthew and Kristin, of Virginia; sister-in-law Jane MacLean, of Wrentham, Mass.; in-laws Tommy and Betty Pierce, of Belgrade, and Peggy and Steven Herrick, of Houston, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade. Arrangements are by Wheeler Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Oakland.

Those who wish may make memorial donations to either the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Foundation.
