Obituary: Clifford Harland White

Mr. Clifford Harland White was a Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War.

 

Clifford Harland White, 81, of Berry Street, Wrentham, and of Cortez Road, Bradenton, FL, died April 5, 2013.  He was the beloved husband for 58 years of
Clara (Lohne) White.

Born in Franklin, on July 6, 1931, he was a loving son of the late Harland E. and Mary R. (Legge) White.  He was a graduate of Northeastern University and Wentworth Institute in Boston.

Mr. White served his country faithfully as a member of the United States Navy, during the Korean War.  He was inducted in Boston on Oct. 10, 1950 and was discharged with the Rank of CS2 on July 23, 1954.

A longtime employee of the former Foxboro Company he had worked as the manager of the Computer Programming Division.

Cliff was an avid fisherman and conservationist, and loved his membership in the Massachusetts Beach Buggy Association.  Spending summers at Race Point in Provincetown brought him, his family, and friends’ great enjoyment and many happy times were spent at the beach.

He was a member of the Masonic Fraternity, and was a member of Bristol Lodge, AF&AM in North Attleboro, where he was also a Past Master of the Lodge.

In addition to his loving wife he leaves dear children, Steven C. White of Lakeville,  Cathy and her husband Tony Mattscheck of Douglas, and Lynn White of 
Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  He was the brother of Helen and her husband Harold Wheeler of Bradenton, FL, Barbara and her husband Richard McLacklan of Conway, SC,  Mary and her husband Hank Aguiar of Attleboro and of the late Grace Marsolais.  He was the devoted grandfather of Melissa Campbell, Joanna Pierce, Jessica Rousseau, Julie Mattscheck, and Brandan and Corri White.  He was the great grandfather of Hudson Pierce, and is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Service will be on Saturday May 4, at 11 a.m., in the Sanctuary of the Original Congregational Church, Route 1A at Route 140, Wrentham Centre. Burial with Military Honor will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
