Obituary: Arthur R. Samsel, Custodian in Norfolk School System

Arthur R. Samsel, 73, of Norfolk died Sept. 5 in the Charlwell House Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Norwood after a short bout with cancer.

Born in Boston, April 1, 1940, the son of the late Erven and Charlotte (Mann) Samsel, Mr. Samsel was a lifelong Norfolk resident.

As a child he attended the Federated Church of Norfolk and the Norfolk school system. He was a proud member of the King Philip ice hockey team while in school.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the custodial department of the Norfolk school system.

He late enjoyed gardening and was an avid Boston Bruins fan.

He is survived by his wife Joan (Sanders) Samsel , formerly of Des Moines, Iowa.

He is also survived by his daughter, Deborah (Reed) Samsel of Grapevine, Texas and a granddaughter , Victoria Reed of Dallas, Texas , that loved her Gaga very much.

He is also survived by his sisters Charlotte Guisti of Bellingham and Georganne Muise of Braintree and his brothers Erven Samsel of Canton and Preston Samsel of Milford.

He was the brother of the late Harold Samsel of Houston, Texas.

He also leaves an Aunt and Uncle and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, in the Federated Church of Norfolk at 10 a.m.

Burial will be in Norfolk Cemetery.

Calling hours are omitted.
