Remember that we have great passes for you to use this summer thanks to the Sweatt Fund and the Friends. All passes give you a discount to many parks, museums and Sweatt Beach. Our new pass to Mystic Aquarium has been most popular.

We hope you are enjoying the new titles that the Friends have kindly donated. Most of them are for Kindles since that seems to be the most popular format. We do have several books available on audio. Just check the SAILS eCatalog and look for the Advantage logo. There you will see the books that are owned by us and much more readily available. Some of the titles are Mockingjay, Catching Fire, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Fifty Shades Freed, Calico Joe, The Litigators, Act of Terror, I’ve Got Your Number and many more. You will find that your wait time will be drastically reduced.

We also have many titles for children, thanks again to the Friends! The range is from picture books like the Berenstain Bears to Young Adult titles.

Again, the Friends have generously donated funds for many games. We are processing them and hope to have them out shortly. A few are : Kinect Sports Season 2, Just Dance 3, Plants vs. Zombies, Legend of Zelda : Skyward Sword and Pro Evolution Soccer. Check out our catalog to see more titles.

Last year, the Friends received a generous donation from TDBANK due to our patrons signing onto the Affinity program. You can either open a new saving, checking or CD account or fill out a form here at the desk. The bank calculates a percentage of the total balance and donates that to us. The form simply tells the bank that you want to support the Friends. No selling, completely confidential. Thanks to those who have already signed up.

Once again this summer the children are invited to help Miss Liz choose an animal, honeybees or trees to donate through Heifer International. Founded in 1944, Heifer International is a humanitarian assistance organization that works to end world hunger and protect the earth. Through livestock, training and “passing on the gift,” Heifer has helped seven million families in more than 125 countries improve their quality of life and move toward greater self-reliance. Heifer helps build strong communities because each project participant agrees to pass on the gift of animal offspring, training, or skills to another family in need.

All children finishing the summer reading club program will get to vote for which animal(s), bees or trees  they would like to donate to help a family in need. See the display  in the children’s room for more information and visit www.heifer.org to learn more about this worthy organization.
