Update: Wrentham Recovering From Irene, Still in the Dark

The effects of yesterday's storm linger for Wrentham as power outages continue.

Update: Power has been restored to the center of Wrentham.

Town Administrator William Ketcham said the area near the intersection of Routes 1A and 140 got power back shortly after noon.

"There has been no word from the utility company on the rest of town," he said. "For residents without power, the fire department is making water available at the Public Safety Building and the Sheldonville Fire Department."

He said the town emergency management agency would be putting out information for those without power.

Ketcham said the municipal water system is up and running.

He said the public works crews have been out and clearing trees from the public highways.

"There are a few roads with trees leaning on power lines, and they're waiting on the utility company before they clear those," he said.

Original: The town of Wrentham is looking to recover from the effects of Irene's high winds, as much of the town remains without power.

National Grid's outage map shows outages in the majority of the town, affecting more than 5,000 customers. Traffic signals throughout Wrentham remain nonfunctional (though those by the Wrentham Village Outlets are working).

Many town businesses are closed. The outlet center opened as scheduled at 10am, but many stores there did not open, as they lack power.

The King Philip Regional High School and the Plainville Public Schools did not open their doors today.

The main roads through town were clear, but work on tree limbs still continues.

Check Wrentham Patch later for updates as we receive them.

Did Wrentham Elementary get their power back today as well? Will the school be open tomorrow for the planned first day of school?

I've heard the elementary schools have gotten power back, though I'm awaiting info as to whether school will begin tomorrow as planned.

Has there been any update from National Grid on Tuesday for the residents still without power?

Just posted an update for Tuesday: http://patch.com/A-l7ys Fire chief estimated 40 percent of town with power, substantial damage to lines in Wrentham, Plainville and Franklin.

Spring Street has been hit pretty hard. Power lines are down in the road at three separate spots and lots of large branches and some trees are down and leaning on wires. Summer Street and Cumberland Rd are blocked off.

Does anyone know if there is power in the area of Luciano's at Lake Pearl? Thanks.

I'm not sure. National Grid does have an outage map (https://www.nationalgridus.com/stormcenter), though it's a little hit-or-miss.

FedUp 1:11pm on Thursday, September 1, 2011 It's nice to see the town leaders step up for the residents. I dont mind at all that the crews have been pulled out of Wrentham and sent to Foxboro because they complained. I can have an extra bag to throw away my rotting food without charge this week! Too bad my trash day has gone by. I dont mind having my taxes skyrocket each year either so another selectman can have HIS street paved while I dodge pot holes and frost heaves on mine. Wrentham. Gotta Love It! No Power: Day #5

Yes. The power is still out. But not in Foxboro
