William L. Daniel Jr. Way to be Dedicated

A ceremony will be held Saturday, June 15.

The school bus access way between Shear and Franklin Street will be named the William L. Daniel Jr. Way after the long Wrentham Civil Defense Director Saturday, June 15, at 10 a.m. Daniel died May 28, 2012 after a brief illness.

The dedication ceremony is open to the public and the master of ceremonies will be radio personality John Colletto who was also a Class of  '75 King Philip Regional High School graduate with Daniel.

Daniel also serves as a special police officer since 1984 and call firefighter and EMT since 1980. He was a certified Firefighter I and II, certified Hazardous Materials Technician, certified in MAST, defibrillator, EpiPen, Enhanced 911 and a LEAPS operator.  Daniel was also a certified dive master, rescue diver and assistant scuba diving instructor.

Yet, with all these impressive certifications, his role as KPRHS street crossing guard maybe the position most people remember him by. 

Dino Bernardini, also a Class of '75 graduate of KPRHS, seemed to sum it up best. "Bill was always there," he said. "His sense of duty and professionalism was beyond reproach. I can't remember anytime in the last five or six years that he wasn't at his post when school was in session."

The event is rain or shine and citizens attending are asked to re-call any special memories involving Daniel.
