Pope's Resignation: What's Your Reaction?

Pope Benedict XVI says he will resign Feb. 28 because of age and his health.

Citing his age and his health, Pope Benedict XVI stunned the Roman Catholic world today by saying that he would resign his position on Feb. 28.

His reign as head of the world's largest church will end after less than eight years in the position. He will be the first Pope to resign in six centuries, according to the New York Times.

Benedict, the former Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, was elected on April 19, 2005. His successor is expected to be elected by the College of Cardinals by Easter, March 31.
