WBUR Poll Shows Scott Brown in Good Shape for Special Senate Election

With Senator John Kerry likely to be President Obama’s pick to replace Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, a return to the Senate may be possible for Scott Brown if he chooses to once again run for the office according to a new poll of 500 registered voters from WBUR and MassINC.

Despite losing to Senator-Elect Elizabeth Warren in November, the majority of Massachusetts voters still have a favorable view of the Wrentham resident with 58% of those polled viewing him favorably compared to 28 percent who have an unfavorable view. 12 percent were undecided and one percent said they have not heard of Brown.

When polled against a generic Democrat, Brown received 47% of those polled and the Democratic received 39%. 15% were undecided or refused to answer the question.

For school districts across the country, the Newtown shooting was a sobering and tragic reminder that no school can fully prevent an incident from taking place. In the days after the tragedy, school districts are now wondering if the procedures they have in place to deal with an intruder are adequate. 

KP's Owen Gonser Named Boston Herald All-Scholastic

The awards keep rolling in for KP junior Owen Gonser. After being named a Hockomock League All-Star and a Boston Globe All-Scholastic, the runner can now add Boston Herald All-Scholastic to his resume.

It was a successful season for Gonser who quickly established himself as one of the fastest distance runners in the area. During the King Philip cross country campaign this fall, Gonser took home the Hockomock League championship, placed second at the Eastern Massachusetts Division 2 Meet, and placed 12th in the Division 1 race at the MIAA All-State Meet.

Terrace Cafe Get the OK for Late Closing on New Year's Eve

For those looking for to stay local on New Year’s Eve, the Terrace Cafe has received permission from the Wrentham Board of Selectmen to operate until 1:30 a.m. and serve alcohol until 12:30 a.m. to celebrate the end of 2012. The vote to allow for a later closing time and last call was approved unanimously 5-0.

The restaurant located at Wrentham Common usually closes at 12:30 a.m but the expected midnight toast is believed to make clearing the building out by the regular closing time a little more difficult. 

A larger influx of customers beyond capacity is not expected as the restaurant will be reservation only on the final evening of the year.

The Wrentham Police Department have released their arrest log for December 10 - 16.

Police Report 62 Custodies at Sunday’s Patriots-49ers Game at Gillette Stadium

Sunday night’s New England Patriots football game at Gillette Stadium drew a crowd of 65,043; slightly less than the 65,435 at Gillette Stadium six days earlier to see the Pats take on the Houston Texans.

Foxborough Police Chief Edward O’Leary said there were 54 people taken into protective custody Sunday night and eight people arrested.

In addition to the 62 custodies reported, a caller at 6:31 p.m. told Foxborough Police a North Street resident was violating the town’s parking bylaw. Officer Foscaldo responded to the property in question and reported there were five cars parked behind the resident’s property on the lawn.
