Regional Shelter Open at La Salette Shrine

Wrentham residents can take shelter at Attleboro's La Salette Shrine.

Attleboro Mayor Kevin Dumas announced that the American Red Cross is opening a regional shelter at on Park Street for those in Attleboro and nearby communities still without power who need shelter.

"A regional shelter has been put in place in order to help our other sister communities that have been devastated by this snow storm," Dumas said. "These include Norton, Mansfield, Plainville, Foxboro, Rehoboth, Wrentham, North Attleboro, Seekonk, Franklin."  Bellingham has been invited by the Red Cross. Communities have also sent staff and supplies.

Anyone with special medical needs will be assisted by the Attleboro Fire Dept. Any questions, contact the Attleboro Police Dept. at 508-222-1212.

From an Attleboro press release: "Necessary personal items to bring to the shelter should include any medicines needed by members of the family, feeding formulas and diapers for infants, a pillow and blanket for each member of the family, a change of clothing, snacks, and books and, if applicable, simple toys for children. Cots and blankets will be available from the Red Cross. However, citizens are encouraged to bring their own bedding. There will be no accommodations for pets at this time."
