Participants in Dancing with the Wrentham Stars Announced

Wrentham Community Events, Inc has announce the participants for the frist annual Dancing with the Wrentham Stars

Wrentham Community Events, Inc. is hosting the first annual Dancing with the Wrentham Stars event on March 8, 2013 at Lake Pearl Luciano's. Six local citizens have been paired up with six local charitable organizations to participate in a fun and friendly competition of fundraising and dancing. Starting this week, all the stars will have 10 weeks to raise funds for their organizations. In addition, they will begin their dance lessons - 10 in total - at one of the participating dance studios: Dance and Beyond and Showcase Dance Productions, both located in Wrentham and Savaria Dance Studio located in Norwood. Each star has been matched up with a professional dance instructor who will choreograph a routine for them which they will perform the night of the event.

The Stars are competing for two awards: Most Votes Raised and Judges Choice. The Most Votes Raised award will be presented to the Star who raises the most funds, or "votes", for their organization - one dollar equals one vote. They and their organization will work together collecting votes over the next few months. Although their fundraising methods may vary, their goal is the same: to raise the most money for their worthy causes. The Judges Vote will be presented to the Star who receives the highest score from the panel of judges. Both awards will be presented the night of the event, March 8th.

The female stars are: Judi Miller, Marci Odams and Leanne Smith.

Judi Miller has been employed by the King Philip School District for 33 years, spending the last 22 years working as the Secretary to the Principal at the King Philip Middle school. She is aligned with The William A. Rice Recreation Complex which provides recreational space for residents throughout the Norfolk County area. She is looking forward to helping them raise funds, as well as working on her dance routine. As she stated, "I am in it to win it"!

Marci Odams works in the Treasurer's office for the Jesuits of New England and also tends bar at The Eaglebrook Saloon a few nights a week. The Friends of Wrentham, an organization which raises funds to nurture the lives of the residents of the Wrentham Development Center, is lucky to have Marci as their Star! When it comes to fundraising, she has the full support of her managers at the Eaglebrook. Don't be suprised if along with Marci, you see many more stars "hanging" around the Eaglebrook in the coming months!

Leanne Smith has owned The Hairsmith Salon for the past 22 years and is aligned with The Holly Club. Two of Leanne's sons Greg and Garrett are members of the military (US Airforce and The Coast Guard), and with the Holly Club being so involved with helping veterans, it's great to have them working together. When asked about starting her dance lessons, Leanne stated she plans on having lots of fun and maybe sharing a laugh (or two) with her family and friends.

The male stars are: Emanuel (Manny) Barros, Dr. Jeff Marsden and JR McDonald.

Manny Barros is a Divisional Retail Sales Manager for Home Market Foods. Manny hosts many local events such as WEST Comedy Night, Family Fun Day, and the end of season Soccer Bash. He is aligned with Random Smile Project, a non profit organization which seeks to provide multi faceted support to families or individuals experiencing difficult times. Manny is excited to be a part of this event and hopes to see everyone out of their seats, dancing and having a great time!

Dr. Jeff Marsden is Superintendent of Wrentham Public Schools. He is partnered with WeST (Wrentham Elemantary School Trust), which seeks to fund innovative and educational projects for the Wrentham Elementary Schools. They have assembled an entire team of volunteers who are ready to support Jeff in his fundraising efforts. Will Jeff be a shining star on the dance floor? Come out and see!

JR McDonald is an Executive Vice President at Cushman & Wakefield of MA. He is aligned with The Wrentham Lions Club, an organization most known for fighting blindness, but also one which empowers volunteers to serve their communities. JR hopes to go home a winner for The Wrentham Lions Club, an organization near and dear to his heart.

Wrentham Community Events is very grateful to each of the stars who are participating in this year's Dancing with the Wrentham Stars event taking place on March 8, 2013!
