Area to Undergo Aerial Mosquito Treatment

The treatment will be administered between April 19 and 22.

The Norfolk County Mosquito Control Project will conduct a helicopter-based treatment to control mosquito larvae, beginning Tuesday.

The treatment to be applied is known as biorational larvicide Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis), according to a Board of Health news release last week.  The trade name of the granular formulations of Bti to be used is VectoBac G.

A list of spring wetland locations that will be affected is available on the Norfolk County Mosquito Control Project's website; wetland locations in the summer will be posted if treatment is warranted, according to the news release.
