5 Things You Need to Know May 8: Wrentham Lions Club to Host Golf Tournament

The King Philip Music Department is hosting Percussion Night tonight.

1. The Wrentham Lions Club will hold its 18th Annual Golf Tournament at the Foxborough Country Club, 33 Walnut Street, Foxborough, Monday, May 13, rain or shine. The fund-raising tournament features a four-person scramble format and has an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Prizes will be awarded for the low score foursome, the top three teams, last place team, longest drive, closest to the pin and a putting contest. Additionally, the first 100 golfers to sign up will receive a leather shoe bag at the course. Registration fee is $130 per player and includes: green fees, golf cart, complimentary raffle ticket, coffee and donuts, luncheon with grilled burgers, hotdogs, chicken, dessert and giveaways. For the second year, Expressway Toyota of Boston will sponsor a hole-in-one contest giving each golfer a chance to win a brand new Toyota. A fundraising raffle will be held during the luncheon for prizes generously donated by the local business community. Anyone interested in sponsoring a hole with an eye-catching sign, or if you would like to register or obtain more information about playing in the tournament, sponsoring a hole or making a donation to the Wrentham Lions Club, please contact Rich Dion at 617-584-1445 or Dave Mulhern at 617-413-0567. 2. The King Philip High Music Department will be presenting Percussion Night in the gymnasium, starting at 6 p.m.

3. The Annual SADD Walk of Tears in loving memory of Maura Howard, a graduate of King Philip High School and Amy Callaghan of Franklin High School, both victims of drunk driving, will take place at King Philip Regional High School on Sunday, May 19. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with an 11 a.m. start in front of the main entrance. The SADD Chapter (Students Against Destructive Decisions) will fund scholarships at both King Philip and Franklin High Schools. The walk is approximately three miles and there will be refreshments and water available. The event will be held rain or shine.

4. Wrentham Recyling will be holding a donation event May 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wrentham Senior Center Parking Lot on Taunton Street. To see what you can bring and what you can't bring, go to  http://www.bostonbuildingresources.com/

5. Sign-ups for the Wrentham swimming lessons and recreation summer playground camp signup will be held at the town hall, 79 South St., in the first floor lobby. A signup will be held May 11, 9:30-11 a.m. See the recreation department's website for more information.
