5. No School Fun Days from the YMCA

From the Hockomock YMCA

Providing youth with opportunities to continue to learn and engage in meaningful activities during out of school time can boost their academic success. To help motivate and inspire kids to learn, the Hockomock Area YMCA offers a before and afterschool program to school-aged children (grades K-8) in the communities of Bellingham, Foxboro, Franklin, Mansfield, North Attleboro, and Wrentham. The Y’s program combines academics with play and offers a caring and safe environment for youth who would otherwise be left unsupervised.

“At the Hockomock Y, we believe all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve,” said Melissa Emidy, Senior Director of School Age Child Care. “In our before and afterschool programs, youth are cultivating values, skills, and relationships and have an extra support system that encourages them to achieve success.”

In addition to before and after school time, through this program, the Hockomock Area YMCA provides No School Fund Days during vacation weeks, early release days, and scheduled no-school days – including December Vacation Week. We offer a fun learning environment that week which includes theme days and field trips including bowling and ice skating. To learn more and download registration forms, visit our website at www.hockymca.org.   Sign up for as many or as few days as meet your schedule.

Studies show participation in these programs helps boost school attendance and academic performance and reduces gaps in academic achievement among children from disadvantaged households.

YMCA afterschool programs promote a love for learning, social and emotional development, and character and creativity. Financial assistance is available at the Hockomock Y to those in need, to ensure every child and teen has the opportunity to learn and grow at the Y.
