5 Things: Santa Stroll, Rat Pack Covers at the Tavern at Wrentham, and the KP Holiday Play

1. Today's Weather from the National Weather Service

• Today: A chance of rain, mainly after 4pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 45. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Tonight: A chance of showers. Patchy fog between 8pm and 10pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 38. Calm wind becoming southwest around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

2. Warriors Kick Off Winter Campaign

The King Philip Warriors will start the 2012-13 winter athletics season this Saturday with three contests. The indoor track team will head to the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston to face Mansfield, the wrestling team will host a tournament, and the girls' hockey team will challenge Canton at the Foxboro Sports Center.

3. Live Music at the Tavern

The Tavern at Wrentham will be hosting Mike Miano on Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. The singer will be performing standards from the Rat Pack.

4. Miracle on 34th Street at King Philip High School

The King Philip High School Drama Club and The Grady Auditorium Production Staff will perform “Miracle on 34th Street,” this Friday, December 7 and Saturday, December 8, in the auditorium at KP High School.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7:00 p.m. performance. In the event of a cancellation due to snow, there will a performance on Sunday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and children under the age of 12 and will be sold at the door starting at 6:00 p.m.

5. Santa Stroll This Saturday

On Saturday, December 8 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Santa will stroll the downtown businesses offering holiday cheer and accepting children’s holiday wish lists.

In addition to Santa’s downtown appearance, several other holiday activities downtown will take place, including

§  Free photo opportunities with Santa throughout the day

§  A hot cocoa stand run by Wrentham elementary school children to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project

§  A ‘Toys for Tots’ toy collection at Absolute Chiropractic now through Dec. 21st

§  Family-friendly activities at The Terrace Café to help King Philip DECA students raise funds for shipping packages to the military

§  Proceeds from a ‘cup of cheer’ from The Terrace Café’s beer line will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project
