5 Things: New Year's Day 5K, Warriors take on Sharon, and More

It's December 20 and there are the five things you need to know!

1. Today's Weather from the National Weather Service

  • Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. Light and variable wind becoming north around 6 mph.
  • Tonight: Showers likely, mainly after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Light east wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

 

2. New Year's Day 5K Returns

The Wrentham Lions Club is sponsoring our 13th annual New Years Classic 5K Road Race on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at the Eagle Brook Saloon – 258 Dedham Street in Norfolk MA.  Rain, snow or shine, the race starts at 10:00 AM.  Race day registration is $30 and begins at 8:30 A.M. The registration fee includes all you can eat buffet and racing gloves to the first 100 entrants.  There will be continuous cash raffles for additional prizes and non-runner buffet tickets can also be purchased for $10.

3. Norfolk County Register of Deeds Wraps Up Toys for Tots Drive

Norfolk County Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell delivered this years Toys for Tots donations to U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Richard Dobbyn on December 19, 2012.

On hand to deliver the toys with Register O’Donnell were Norfolk County Commissioners Francis W. O’Brien, Chairman of Dedham, John M. Gillis of Quincy and Peter H. Collins of Milton. Register O’Donnell expressed his gratitude for the generosity of the Registry of Deeds employees, title examiners, attorney’s and many Norfolk County residents for contributing to the Toys for Tots drive. “I would like to thank everyone who generously donated to the Registry’s 6th Annual Toys for Tots Drive. We are grateful for the service of all veterans past and present and are as always honored to partner with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in their annual toy drive which helps make the holiday brighter for so many,” said Register O’Donnell.

5. Winter Jazz Concert Tonight

The KP Music Associattion will hold their winter jazz concert tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium at King Philip High School.
