  • Tonight: A chance of rain, mainly after 3am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 46. North wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

2. King Philip and Oliver Ames to Host Fall Classic Marching Band Show

The King Philip Music Association and the Oliver Ames Music Association proudly announce the annual KP/OA Fall Classic Marching Band show sponsored by USBands on Saturday, October 6th at 6 p.m. at the King Philip High School Main Field. King Philip is excited to be hosting the show again after a two year absence. In addition to King Philip and Oliver Ames, nine bands from across Massachusetts and Rhode Island will be performing at a show that is sure to thrill all.

King Philip will be closing the evening with their show “The Other Side” which features the stirring music of Sergei Prokofiev and Malcolm Arnold. The Other Side tells the story of a man enticed by what he thinks is a better life in another world, but once he gets there he discovers it is not all he thought it would be. His attempts to get back to his original life are met with resistance. Does he make it or is he stuck in a world that isn’t what it seemed? Come join the band find out.

Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students.

 

3. KP Parents' Network Presents Comedian and Hypnotist Jim Spinnato


Join the King Philip Parents’ Network for an entertaining night of non-stop laughs as professional comedian and hypnotist Jim Spinnato brings his presentation of comedy and hypnosis to the King Philip Middle School auditorium on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be ordered through the KP Parents’ Network website (www.kpparentnetwork.org) or purchased at the door the night of the show. Enjoy a fun night out with other adults--friends, neighbors, and spouses. Light refreshments will be available for purchase starting at 7:30 p.m. 

Since the mid 90’s Jim has amazed audiences up and down the east coast performing for corporate clients, colleges, high schools and casinos. His exciting and high energy combination of music, audience participation, comedy and hypnosis is a fast-paced romp through the subconscious mind. This unforgettable show will have you on the edge of your seats and dancing in the aisles…all while in a “deep sleep.” From his early days in the comedy club circuit to his present day schedule of corporate, casino and college gigs, Jim’s performances have always been nothing short of incredible. “Sleeping” was never this funny! 4. Romney vs. Obama Polling Results

As expected, President Barack Obama holds a solid lead against former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in a recent poll from Rasmussen Reports. Obama is currently leading Romney 55% to 40% with 3% preferring another candidate and 2% undecided.

 

5. More Flushing

Flushing will occur Sunday, September 30, 2012 through Friday, October 5, 2012 between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The areas affected during this week will be Foxboro Road (Route 140) and side streets from Everett Street to the Foxboro town line; Dedham Street and side streets from Winter Street to the Norfolk town line; Washington Street (Route 1) and side streets; Madison Street and side streets from 515 Madision Street to the Plainville town line; Thurston Street and side streets from Route 1 to 617 Thurston Street; May Street and side streets; Park Street and side streets; Shears Street and side streets and streets around Mirror Lake. The Flushing Program will continue through the month of October.
