Sales Associate - new

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • To assist customers promptly - within 15 seconds - to make the customers feel welcomed within the store.
  • Exceed all personal sales goals.
  • Develop and maintain a professional and courteous relationship with customers and co-workers.
  • Operate the cash register, accept payment, make change, provide receipts and bag merchandise for customers.
  • Exchange names with customers, determine their needs, and use various resources to educate customers and assist them in choosing the right selections.
  • Participate in learning and development activities such as store meetings, training sessions and courses, and other training materials such as the use of scripts to learn the Vitamin World selling process.
  • Collaborate with the store team to support and achieve the goals of the store and Vitamin World.
  • Clean fixtures, shelves, baskets, backroom, bathroom and floor according to company policy as directed by the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager and the District Manager.
  • Stock, display and rotate products according to the company’s direction.
  • Assist the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager in the implementation of merchandising and operational procedures.
  • Document the return of damaged, discontinued or expired products.
  • Operate the cash register, accept payment, make change, provide receipts and bag merchandise for customers.
  • Balance the cash register at the end of each shift or as scheduled.
  • Follow management direction in completing other duties as required.

 

 

 

Assistant Manager - new

Yankee – Wrentham

Job Summary: 

As a Retail Store Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the management and leadership of a Yankee Candle Store; overseeing and driving daily sales performance; maintain service and operational standards; supervising, coaching, counseling and training staff on ASAP sales program; ensuring adequate staffing; providing superior customer service; maintaining store facilities; ensuring safety and security for guests and staff; preparing cash reports and merchandise orders; and other similar duties pertaining to the management of a retail store. 

Scope: 

The Retail Store Assistant Manager provides assistance in the direction and leadership to a Yankee Candle Retail Store; drives sales & profitability; provides exemplary guest service, ensures visual merchandising/presentation and operational standards; recruits, staffs, coaches and develops store management teams and sales associates as a part of our Succession Plan; meets or exceeds divisional and store sales and profitability goals.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  •    2 years’ demonstrated supervisory/management experience in a retail sales environment or similar fast paced, customer service environment, preferred.
  •    Previous experience in a retail sales environment with increasing levels of responsibility and strong working knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.
  •    Demonstrated ability to effectively lead/direct, coach and train others in a retail setting, and the ability to relate well using communication, interpersonal, diplomacy and related skills required.
  •    Experience in a specialty retail environment required.

Specific Job Skills:

Ability to conduct interpersonal interactions with customers and other company personnel. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment and contribute to the smooth operation of the store. Basic math and organizational skills required. Ability to model positive customer service skills at all times. Must be willing to work within established company guidelines. Must be able to effectively utilize sales and customer service techniques. Skills in operating a POS system.

Physical requirements include the ability to use telephone, computerized systems; perform repetitive movements of the arms and shoulders, stand for extended periods of time up to 8 hours per day, move freely around store, bend, twist, reach, squat, climb a ladder and regularly lift/carry up to 40 pounds.  

Education:

High school education or equivalent.

 

Experience:

Previous retail sales experience and/or experience working in a customer service environment is strongly preferred. Warehouse, logistics or operations experience desired.
