Vision for Vacancies: The Former Crosby Valve Site

What was once a large factory that employed nearly 700 people is now a large vacant field with the potential to be redeveloped.

For decades Wrentham was home to Cosby Valve which made and tested steam valves. The company was eventually sold to Tyco Flow Control and 2010, the operation was moved to a $25 million dollar facility in Mansfield.

With the property expected to be ready to be sold in 2013, the town is now wondering what should go on the 50 acres of land right off of Kendrick Street. The town will ask residents and local business owners what they think should go there tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Delaney School when the Planning Board will hold a special workshop to help create a vision for the future of downtown Wrentham.

According to the official announcement from the Planning Board, the session will aid planners and government officials in drafting zoning and other regulations to shape the future development of the land right off of Kendrick Street and the rest of downtown.
