Tranquil Souls Yoga and Pilates Keeps Yoga in Wrentham

While the building has been the home to yoga for years, a new yoga business has recently opened up in Downtown Wrentham.

For the foreseeable future, 15 Franklin Street will remain the home for yoga in Wrentham. When Humble Warrior Yoga moved to Walpole late last month, it wasn’t long before Heather Martin opened Tranquil Souls Yoga and Pilates in the building near Wrentham Common that has been the home of multiple yoga studios over the years.

After starting yoga to help recover from back surgery a few years ago, Martin has gone from using the exercise for rehab to becoming a 200 hour certified yoga teacher.

“It was love at first site. Once I jumped on to my mat, that was it,” Martin said.

Since becoming an instructor, Martin has taught yoga in both studio and classroom settings around Wrentham and in the surrounding towns. Martin also teaches the children/teen yoga program at the Foxboro branch of the Hockomock YMCA and has taught the exercise at the Franklin YMCA and in the Wrentham, Franklin, and Foxboro school systems.

With eight certified instructors, the studio hopes to offer plenty of options for novices and more advance students. Currently, there are students doing yoga and Pilates ranging from 2 ½ year old children to adults. Currently, there are 25 classes will be offered each week, including Vinyasa Flow, Power Core, Restorative Yoga and Kid’s Yoga. The variety in classes allows the studio to provide faster and slower paced courses depending on each person’s skill level.

The studio opened on December 1 where two free classes were offered to those who wanted to get a feel for a new studio. Martin considered the classes a success, with one of them overflowing out of the studio

“Both classes were very well received,” said Martin. “Everyone has been wonderful and very supportive in the community.”

The positive reaction has led to a second open house on January 20th that will be opened to the community.

During December, the studio will also have an event where parents may drop their children off for the afternoon to get holiday shopping done. While the parents are shopping, the children will be doing yoga, and enjoying a movie among other activities.

On December 15, there will be a workshop for children 5-7 with an addition one for children 8-12 the next day. Registration for the workshops are $40 and pre-registration is required.

In addition to yoga, Martin hopes the space can be used in ways beyond yoga. The studio will be hosting children’s authors in January.
