Tavern at Wrentham to Celebrate Third Year

Owner Doug Smith says it will be a celebration to remember.

The Tavern at Wrentham is in the mood for celebrating.

“We’re having our third-year celebration,” owner Doug Smith said. “We’re going to have a bit of a party down here.”

This year, Tavern will be celebrating their third year in business June 7-8 with a seafood focus.

“It’s all food based on lobster,” Smith said. “The cooks are going to get very creative; they have a good time with it. It’s going to be things you don’t normally see with lobster.”

He said the menu hasn’t exactly been worked out yet, specifically, but he said things like lobster buffalo mac and cheese and lobster fillet are some of the items they’re thinking about.

Smith has owned the Tavern, formally Tom’s Tavern, for three years now. Statistically, 75-percent of restaurants fail in the first year and 50 percent of those fail in the second year.

“It really is an accomplishment, but I never really had a doubt,” he said.

Smith said there will be live entertainment during the celebration and a sweet enticement.

“Desert’s on us,” he said. “We’re going to have a good time. There will be lots of entertainment, you know, promo’s, giveaways, that kind of thing.”

Smith said the Wachusetts Brewing Company’s Green Monster Ale sponsors the event.

“It’s a great product and it ties right into Boston and Fenway Park,” Smith said.
