Sen Brown Stops in Framingham, Picks up Endorsemnt from Fmr. NJ Gov. Whitman

U.S. Senator Scott Brown said it wasn't the trains or the bridges in downtown Framingham, that helped Carrie Cardeiro and Shane Jinson open Carrie Anne's in the spring of 2011.

Cardeiro and Jinson, who posed with Brown, and his wife Gail and daughter Ayla yesterday for photos, opened the local establishment on Route 135 in the spring of 2011.

Cardeiro is the grandaughter of the Lou's Donuts owners, a popular local breakfast nook in the mornings until they closed in the mid-1980s.

A former KFC, the diner, serves breakfast, starting at 6 a.m., and is open through lunch. And yes, the serve several flavorsand kinds of donuts, including a bacon one.

There wasn't a seat or a stool at the counter to be found yesterday morning.

Brown came to Framingham to greet constituents, praise the small business and to pick up the endorsement of former New Jersey Governor Christie Todd Whitman, who also travelled to Framingham Wednesday.

Whitman, who would officially endorse Brown for re-election to the U.S. Senate at an event in Boston Wednesday, greeted Framingham and MetroWest residents with Brown and posed for lots of photos.

The Massachusetts senate race is tight, if you believe the latest polls. A WBUR poll yesterday, had Brown, the incumbent, up by 4 percent but a UMass Amherst poll had Democrat Elizabeth Warren up by 2 percent.

Both will participate in the third of four scheduled debates tonight in Springfield. Patch will have coverage.
