Rockland Trust Honored With Hockomock Area YMCA's Red Triangle Award

Rockland Trust received the Hockomock Area YMCA's Foxboro Branch Red Triangle Award for the bank's steadfast dedication and partnership with the Hockomock Area YMCA to meet the changing needs of the community.

Foxborough's Rockland Trust was honored with the Red Triangle Award at the Hockomock Area YMCA’s annual meeting and awards night May 15 at Lake Pearl Luciano’s in Wrentham.

This award is presented annually to individuals or organizations for their steadfast dedication and partnership with the Hockomock Area YMCA to meet the changing needs of our community.

Rockland Trust’s Foxborough office operates with a local community consciousness that goes beyond what is normally expected from large corporations.

Rockland Trust’s local branch manager and vice president Mark Coletta frames the bank’s philosophy, noting, “Our bank started in the early 1900s by a group of local business folks who shared common goals—and even though we have grown to 77 branches, we have not lost that spirit of community.”

“It is not often that you find a financial institution with 77 branches that so strongly focuses its energies on building local relationships and partnerships. Rockland Trust and its charitable foundation does just that,” said Jim Downs, vice president and chief operating officer at the Hockomock Area YMCA. “The Foundation has many areas of interest and two areas include youth development and health & human services which are relevant to the work we are doing at the Hockomock Area YMCA.  It is in these areas that the support of Rockland Trust have made a significant difference to our Y and our community.”

Downs added, “Rockland Trust also provided a leadership gift to help us meet the Spier Family Challenge resulting in the opening of the Spier Family Outdoor Aquatics Center last summer in Foxborough.  Their support did not stop there,” adds Downs. “Rockland Trust also provided a grant for our Y’s child protection initiative helping to bring the Darkness to Light training to our community. Rockland Trust through its employees and Foundation is truly creating a brighter future for the community at large.”

Upon receiving the award, Mark Coletta of Rockland Trust said, “Our organizations have a shared vision to give back to the communities we all work and live in. We look forward to continuing Rockland Trust’s support of the incredible programs and services offered at the Y. We couldn’t think of a better organization to partner with.”

Coletta references the bank’s tagline Where Each Relationship Matters  when he speaks of his relationship with the Y.

“I’ve seen our local Y leadership in action, as a donor and a member of our Invensys Foxboro Branch’s Board of Managers," Coletta said. "They do amazing things.  It’s important to me that both the bank and the Y emphasize relationships, pay attention to families and their individual needs, and reach out to help people in our community when they need it most.”
