Update: All Weather Advisories Have Ended

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch and flood advisory for Norfolk County.

Update (8:30 p.m.): The flash flood warning for Norfolk County has been lifted, ending the final weather advisory for Wrentham. There is still a chance of thunderstorms through the evening and early morning hours. Tomorrow brings a 30 - 40% chance of isolated thunderstorms during the day.

 

Update (8:18 p.m.): The tornado warning for Norfolk County has been lifted. The flash flood warning should be lifted by 8:30 p.m. tonight.

Drivers are advised to avoid any flooded areas as the flooding may be too deep to drive through safely.

 

Update (3:54 p.m.): The National Weather Service (NWS) has now issued a tornado watch and flood advisory for Wrentham and the rest of Norfolk County.

The tornado watch went into effect at 3:30 p.m. and will remain in effect until 9:00 p.m. tonight.

The flood advisory also went into effect at 3:30 p.m. and will remain so until 7:30 p.m.

According to the advisory, an area of thunderstorms with torrential rainfall was moving northeastward from southern Connecticut and Long Island Sound. Close to two inches of rain fell in New Haven Connecticut in less than an hour with this band.

The National Weather Service is predicting showers and thunderstorms for later today,with heavier rain during the thunderstorms.

According to the NWS advisory, numerous showers and thunderstormsare are expected during the afternoon and evening. The thunderstorms may contain very heavy downpours and cause localized street flodding. Some of the thunderstorms may also contain strong wind gusts with a few possibly becoming sever this afternoon and evening with damaging wind gusts.

Any storms that may develop could also be accompanied by strong wind gusts. The NWS forecasts that these winds could go up to 10 mph. There is an 80% chance that Wrentham will see rain and thunderstorms this afternoon.

Residents can expect storms to start developing after 3 p.m.

The forecast for Saturday is slightly better, as there is a 50% chance of more storms with strong wind.
